"The Conference of Peripheral Maritime Regions of Europe (CPMR) brings together some 150 Regions from 25 States - both members and non-members of the EU - all located in one of Europe's main sea basins. They have chosen to open up towards the international scene and join transnational cooperation networks as a way of strengthening their competitiveness.
The CPMR regions aim to promote together a more balanced development of the European Union highlighting the value of all its geographical areas with a view to strengthening its economic, social and territorial cohesion.
The Regions of the CPMR are sub-divided into 7 Geographical Commissions: Atlantic, Baltic Sea, Balkans, Black Sea, Mediterranean, North Sea and Islands."
