Lokalplaner kan indeholde krav om oprettelse af grundejerforeninger for nye haveboligområder, erhvervsområder, områder for fritidsbebyggelse eller byomdannelsesområder, herunder at der er medlemspligt for alle grundejere. Derudover kan lokalplanen indeholde bestemmelser for foreningens ret og pligt til at forestå etablering, drift og vedligeholdelse af fællesarealer og fællesanlæg. Endelig kan kommunalbestyrelsen bemyndige en grundejerforening ret til at meddele dispensationer fra en lokalplan.

Local plans may require the establishment of landowners’ associations – for example in new areas with houses that have gardens, industrial or commercial areas, areas for leisure houses or urban regeneration areas, including compulsory membership and the right and obligation of the association to take responsibility for establishing, operating and maintaining common areas and facilities.
Finally, the municipal council may authorize a landowners’ association to communicate exemptions from a local plan.
