national definition:

Landzone er primært områder i det åbne land, hvor egentlig byudvikling er uønsket, og hvor jordbrugserhvervet har fortrinsstilling. Såfremt det ønskes at

  • Udstykke i landzone,
  • Ændre anvendelsen af et areal i landzone,
  • Bygge i landzone, eller
  • Ændre anvendelsen af en bygning i landzone,
kræver det som hovedregel en landzonetilladelse fra kommunalbestyrelsen. En landzonetilladelse erstatter dog ikke en evt. byggetilladelse.

english definition:

Rural zones are primarily areas in the countryside where urban development is unwanted and where agriculture has priority.
A rural zone permit from the municipal council is usually required if a property owner wants:

  • to parcel out in a rural zone;
  • to alter the land use of an area in a rural zone;
  • to build in a rural zone; or
  • to alter the use of a building in a rural zone.
However, a rural zone permit does not replace any building permit needed.
