The Protection of Nature Act contains provisions on protection lines for beaches, lakes, streams, forests and ancient monuments. It also includes provisions about where the lines should be sought to be abolished if they are inconsistent with planned building and construction works. Further, the Protection of Nature Act governs the protection of natural environments and international nature protection areas. Together with the Planning Act, the Protection of Nature Act thereby constitutes an important basis for the administration of special permits regarding rural zones.
