Areal development based on land use agreement

The term refers to a common practice especially in the 1960īs and 1970īs, in which private developers bought large areas around the fast growing cities, and made agreements with the - at that time often rural - municipalities to prepare detailed plans for dense blocks-of-flats neighbourhood units on their property area, and as a compensation the developer would give the areas indicated in the plan to public purposes to the municipality for free.
