Maakuntakaava

Maakunnan tai sen osan maa- ja vesialueita koskeva yleisluonteinen kaava.
Maakuntakaava on yksi kolmesta lakisääteisestä kaavamuodosta (-tasosta) Suomessa.
Maakuntakaavan laatii ja hyväksyy maakunnan liitto. Maakuntakaava on ainoa kaavamuoto, joka on saatettava vahvistettavaksi ympäristö­ministeriöön.
Maakuntakaava voidaan laatia myös vaiheittain (vaihekaava) tai osa-alueittain.

Regional land use plan

english definition:

General type of statutory land use plan concerning the land and water areas of a region or a part of a region.
Regional land use plan is one of the three types (levels) of statutory land use plan in Finland.
Regional land use plan is drafted and approved by the Regional Council. Regional land use plan is the only type of plan that needs to be submitted for ratification to the Ministry of Environment.
Regional land use plan may also be drawn up in phases (phased land use plan) or by sub-area.
