Suojelumääräys

Maakuntakaavan kaava­määräystyyppi, jolla voidaan antaa rakentamista ja ympäristön käyttöä koskevia ehdottomia rajoituksia ja reunaehtoja alueilla, joita maiseman, luonnonarvojen, rakennetun ympäristön, kulttuuri­historiallisten arvojen tai muiden erityisten ympäristö­arvojen vuoksi on suojeltava.
Suojelumääräyksellä voidaan ohjata myös muuta maankäyttöä kuin rakentamista (esimerkiksi metsien käsittelyä ja ojitusta).
Suojelumääräyksellä ei voida velvoittaa maanomistajaa aktiivisiin toimenpiteisiin kaavan toteutumisen edistämiseksi.

Protection order

english definition:

A type of plan provision used in a regional land use plan, which can be used to define strict restrictions and edge conditions concerning building and the use of the environment in an area requiring protection due to its landscape, natural values, built environment, cultural and historical values or other special environmental values.
A protection order may be used to guide also other types of land use than building (e.g. treatment of forests and drainage).
A protection order cannot oblige the land-owner to active actions to contribute to the implementation of the regional land use plan.
