Aizsargājamās teritorijas ir teritorijas, kuras paredzētas ūdens ieguvei cilvēku patēriņam, teritorijas, kuras izveidotas bioloģisko resursu aizsardzībai, ūdensobjekti, kuri atzīti par rekreācijas objektiem vai peldūdeņiem, īpaši jutīgas teritorijas, kā arī īpaši aizsargājamas dabas teritorijas.
