Apbūves laukums ir visu zemes gabala ēku un virszemes būvju apbūves laukumu summa. Ēkas (būves) apbūves laukums ir tāda laukuma projekcija cokola līmenī, kuru ierobežo šīs būves ārējais perimetrs ieskaitot izvirzītās daļas. Apbūves laukumā ieskaita laukumu zem ēkām (būvēm) un to daļām, kuras izvietotas uz kolonnām, caurbrauktuvju laukumus zem ēkām, kā arī laukumus zem lieveņiem, nojumēm, terasēm un ārējām kāpnēm.

Building area is the total sum of all buildings areas of the buildings and overground structures located on a particular plot. The building area of a building (structure) is such projection of an area on the socle level that is limited by the outer perimeter of the particular structure including its ledges. The area under the buildings (structures) themselves and their parts constructed on columns as well as the areas of the passages under the buildings; areas under the porches, lean-tos, terraces and outer stairs are included in the total building area.
