Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamā dabas teritorija (Natura 2000 teritorija)

Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamās dabas teritorijas (Natura 2000 teritorijas) ir vienots Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamo dabas teritoriju tīkls. Tas izveidots, lai nodrošinātu īpaši aizsargājamo biotopu, īpaši aizsargājamo sugu un ierobežoti izmantojamo īpaši aizsargājamo sugu dzīvotņu aizsardzību vai, kur tas nepieciešams, atjaunošanu to dabiskās izplatības areāla robežās. Ministru kabinets nosaka kritērijus Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamo dabas teritoriju (Natura 2000) izveidošanai Latvijā. Latvijas Vides, ģeoloģijas un meteoroloģijas aģentūra sagatavo nepieciešamo informāciju sabiedrībai un Eiropas Komisijai par Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamām dabas teritorijām (Natura 2000) Latvijā. Paredzētajai darbībai vai plānošanas dokumentam (izņemot aizsargājamo teritoriju dabas aizsardzības plānus un tajos paredzētās darbības), kas atsevišķi vai kopā ar citu paredzēto darbību vai plānošanas dokumentu var būtiski ietekmēt Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamo dabas teritoriju (Natura 2000), veic ietekmes uz vidi novērtējumu. Kompensējošos pasākumus Eiropas nozīmes aizsargājamo dabas teritoriju (Natura 2000) tīklam veic, lai nodrošinātu paredzētās darbības veikšanas vai plānošanas dokumenta īstenošanas negatīvo ietekmju līdzsvarošanu un teritorijas vienotības (viengabalainības) aizsardzību un saglabāšanu.

Natura 2000 site (protected nature territory of European significance)

Protected nature territories of European significance or Natura 2000 sites is a unified network of protected nature territories of European significance. The network has been established in order to ensure the protection of specially protected biotopes, specially protected species and specially protected habitats of species or, where necessary, their regeneration in the boundaries of the natural distribution area of such species. The Cabinet shall determine criteria for the establishment of protected nature territories of European significance (Natura 2000) in Latvia. The responsible minister shall approve the list of protected territories of European significance (Natura 2000) in which all the protected territories conforming to the criteria have been included. The Latvian Environment Agency shall prepare the necessary information for the society and for the European Commission regarding the protected territories of European significance (Natura 2000) in Latvia. For any intended activity that may substantially affect a protected nature territory of European significance (Natura 2000) an environmental impact assessment shall be carried out taking into account the goals of protection of the territory and also evaluating the total impact of the intended activities.
