Krastmala ir publiski pieejama josla gar ūdenstilpes krastu, kas sākas no ūdens akvatorijas un kuras platumu līdz sarkanai līnijai (iekšējai vai ārējai), apbūvei vai kā citādi, nosaka teritorijas plānojums, bet ne mazāk kā 10 metru platumā. Krastmalās ir jānodrošina nepārtrauktas gājēju kustības iespējas vismaz 10 metru platā joslā. Krastmalu joslas apstādījumi ir stādījumu vai dabiski veidojušās augu segas aizņemta teritorija virszemes ūdens objektu krasta joslā.

Embankment is a strip of land of public accessibility stretching along the water body; its width from the aquatorium to the red line (both inner and outer), buildings or other is defined by the spatial planning, however it must be at least 10 meters wide. In embankments the possibility of continuous movement of pedestrians at least within 10 m wide zone has to be ensured. Embankment strip plantations are a territory taken up by either plantations or natural vegetation within the embankment strip of surface water bodies.
