Pilsētas teritorija ir teritorija ar lielu iedzīvotāju blīvumu noteiktās robežās. Ēkas un citas būves izvietotas nelieloas attālumos. Pilsētas teritorija ir teritorija, kuras fiziski veido pislētas daļu un raksturojas lielā mērā ar apbūvētām virsmām, lielu iedzīvotāju blīvumu un nodarbinātību un transporta un cita veida infrastruktūru (pretstatā lauku teritorijām). Pilsētu teritorijas var ietvert arī neapbūvētas, zaļumu teritorijas, kuras galvenokārt izmanto ipilsētnieku rekreācijas mērķiem.

Geographic area with a high density of people over a limited area. Homes and other types of buildings tend to be close together. An urban area is an area which physically forms part of a town or city and is characterised by an important share of built-up surfaces, high density of population and employment and significant amounts of transport and other infrastructure (as opposed to rural areas). Urban areas may also comprise non builtup, green areas generally used for recreational purposes by urban dwellers.
