policentrisms

Policentrisma nozīmīgs aspekts ir tā pielietojums dažādos telpiskos mērogos. Tas piemērojams Eiropas mērogā, kur tam jāspēj radīt alternatīvas globālajām ekonomikas integrācijas zonām, lai pretstāvētu tā saucamās pentagona zonas Londona - Parīze - Milāna - Minhene - Hamburga polarizācijas iespaidam; zemākā līmenī (piemēram, nacionālajā mērogā vai transnacionālajās teritorijās), policentrismam ir jālīdzsvaro apdzīvojuma sistēma ar vairāku dažāda izmēra metropoļu (ne tikai galvaspilsētu) izaugsmi; reģionālajā līmenī policentrismam ir jānodrošina, ka izaugsme un attīstība dod ieguvumus arī vidējām un mazajām pilsētām un uztur un palielina reģiona lauku teritoriju vitalitāti jeb dzīvotspēju.

polycentricity

An important aspect of polycentricity is that it is valid at different scales: applied at European scale, it should enable the emergence of alternative global economic integration zones likely to counteract the polarisation effects of the so-called pentagon London-Paris-Milan-Munich-Hamburg; at intermediate scale (for instance at national scale or in transnational areas), polycentricity should lead to a balanced settlement system with growth benefiting to several metropolitan areas of various size and not only to the national capital cities; at regional level, polycentricity has to ensure that growth and development benefits also to mediumsized and smaller towns to maintain and increase vitality in the more rural parts of the region.
