starptautiskas nozīmes mitrāju saraksts

Tie ir mitrāji, kas saskaņā ar Konvenciju par starptautiskas nozīmes mitrājiem, īpaši kā ūdensputnu dzīves vidi jeb Ramsāres konvenciju, tiek īpaši aizsargāti, balstoties uz to starptautisko nozīmi ekoloģijā, botānikā, zooloģijā, limnoloģijā vai hidroloģijā. Pirmkārt sarakstā ir ietverti tie starptautiskas nozīmes mitrāji, kur mīt ūdensputni jebkurā gadalaikā. Latvijā starptautiskas nozīmes mitrāju sarakstā ir iekļauti Engures ezers, Kaņiera ezers, Teiču un Pelečāres purvs, Lubānas mitrāju komplekss, Papes mitrāju komplekss un Ziemeļu purvi. Šos mitrājus dēvē par Ramsāres teritorijām.

These are wetlands that in accordance to the Convention on Wetlands of International Importance Especially as Waterfowl Habitat or RAMSAR Convention are particularly protected due to their international significance in terms of ecology, botany, zoology, limnology or hydrology. In the first instance wetlands of international importance to waterfowl at any season should be included. In Latvia lakes of Engure, Kanieris, swamps of Teici and Pelecares, and wetland complex of Lubans, Pape and North swamps are included in the list of wetlands of international importance. These wetlands are named as Ramsar Sites.
