Sugu introdukcija ir Latvijas dabai neraksturīgu sugu ieviešana. Saskaņā ar Sugu un biotopu aizsardzības likumu ir aizliegta Latvijas dabai neraksturīgu sugu introdukcija un izlaišana dabā. Lai apmierinātu neatliekamas ekonomiskās vai sociālās vajadzības, sugu introdukcija ir pieļaujama tikai ar atļauju, kuru izsniedz pēc tam, kad veikts ietekmes uz vidi novērtējums. Introdukcijas iniciators veic introducēto populāciju monitoringu un introdukcijas ekoloģisko efektu pētījumus un reizi divos gados monitoringa pētījumu rezultātus iesniedz Dabas aizsardzības pārvaldei. introduction of species

Introduction of species means the introduction of wild species that are alien to Latvia. In accordance to the Species and Biotope Protection Law, the introduction of alien species and release in the nature of Latvia is prohibited.In order to satisfy emergency economic or social needs, the introduction of species is permissible only with a permit, which is issued after the assessment of the impact on the environment has been carried out. The initiator of introduction shall carry out the monitoring of the introduced populations and research regarding the ecological effects of the introduction and shall submit the results of the monitoring research to the Nature Protection Board every 2 years.
