Teritoriālās ietekmes novērtējums ir metode, ar kuru nosaka visa veida telpiski nozīmīgu politiku, pasākumui, projekts ietekmes uz teritoriju, īpaši uz teritoriālo ilgtspējību un kohēziju. Noteiktās ietekmes var būt ekonomiskas, sociālās, vides un kultūras. Tās var attiekties uz pieejamību, bioloģiskās daudzveidību, vietas novietojumu, reģionālās vai vietējās nodarbinātības iespējām un uz dzīves kvalitāti.

Territorial impact assessment  (TIA) is a method which aims at identifying the impacts that all types of spatially relevant public policies, measures and projects may have on the territory, especially on territorial sustainability and cohesion. In this respect, the territorial impacts to be identified may be of economic, social, environmental and cultural nature. They may be related to changes in accessibility, biodiversity, locational preferences, regional/local employment opportunities, quality of life etc. (CEMAT Glossary)
