Gamtinio karkaso formavimas - Vienas iš teritorijų planavimo uždavinių (Pagal teritorijų planavimo įstatymą) Gamtinis karkasą Saugomų teritorijų įstatymas apibrėžia kaip vientisą gamtinio ekologinio kompensavimo teritorijų tinklą, užtikrinantį ekologinę kraštovaizdžio pusiausvyrą, gamtinius ryšius tarp saugomų teritorijų, kitų aplinkosaugai svarbių teritorijų ar buveinių, taip pat augalų ir gyvūnų migraciją tarp jų. Gamtinis karkasas nustatomas, rengiant bendrojo arba specialiojo teritorijų planavimo dokumentus (Pagal saugomų teritorijų įstatymą). Veikla gamtiniame karkase esančiose teritorijoje yra ribojama saugomų teritorijų įstatymo.

One of the objectives of territorial planning (In accordance with the Law on Territorial Planning)is the formation of nature framework . The Law on Protected Territories defines the natural framework as an integral network of the natural and ecological compensation territories, which ensures an ecological equilibrium of the landscape, natural relations between protected territories, and other territories or inhabitations essential for the environmental protection, plants and animals' migration among them. The natural framework is established in drafting master or special territorial planning documents. (According to the Law on Protected Territories). The activity within the natural framework is restricted by the said Law.
