Savivaldybės taryba - Renkama aukščiausia vietos savivaldos institucija, įgyvendinanti savivaldos teisę. Savivaldybės taryba priima sprendimą dėl savivaldybės teritorijos ar jos dalių bendrojo plano rengimo ir dėl planavimo tikslų. Ji taip pat tvirtina savo teritorijos bendruosius ir detaliuosius planus (pastaruosius tvirtinti ji gali pavesti savivaldybės administracijos direktoriui). (pagal Vietos savivaldos įstatymą ir bendrųjų bei detaliųjų planų taisykles)

english definition:

Municipal Council - The elective institution of a local self-government implementing the right to self-government. The Municipal Council adopts a decision on drafting the master plan of the municipality territory and its parts, as well as on the objectives of planning. The Municipal Council also approves master and detailed plans of its own territory (the Municipal Council can delegate detailed plans to the Director of Municipal Administration for approval). (According to the Regulations of Local Self-Government, Master and Detailed plans).
