Regional planlegging

national definition:

Profesjonsrelatert karakteristikk av offentlig planlegging underlagt egen planmyndighet på mellomnivået, dvs. mellom sentralt og lokalt nivå.

Regional planlegging vil kunne omfatte aktivitetsplanlegging for offentlige sektorer, utforming av policies for regionens fysiske utvikling og tilrettelegging for regionens økonomiske utvikling. Regional planlegging forgår i regi av fylkeskommunen, se fylkesplanlegging. Eventuelt planlegging på overkommunalt nivå kan skje interkommunalt, jf. interkommunal planlegging.

Regional planning

Professional characterization of public planning under the authority of a separate planning unit at meso-level, i.e. between the central stat and local levels.

Regional planning can include sectoral activity planning, formulating of policies for the physical development within the region and organizing of arrangements for the economic development of the region. Regional planning is under the authority of the County Municipality and is formally understood as County planning (cf.). Alternatively, understood as planning  across municipal borders Inter-municipal planning (cf.) is a kind of regional planning.
