Romlig planlegging

Profesjonsrelatert karakteristikk av offentlig planlegging for styring av den territorielle utviklingen over ulike geografisk nivåer.
Vanligvis blir dette forstått som en sektorovergripende og koherent planlegging for styrt utvikling av arealfaste naturgitte mønstre og menneskeskapte fysiske innretninger med tilknyttet virksomhet og aktiviteter. Kommunal og fylkeskommunal planlegging ligger nært opp til denne form for planlegging, selv om den finansielle delen av denne planleggingen ikke er koordiner i forhold til planleggingen innenfor statlig sektorer, se sektorplanlegging.

Spatial planning

Professional, although rear,  characterization of public planning for the management of territorial developments over different geographical levels. Usually, spatial planning is understood as cross-sectoral and coherent planning as guidance for the management of natural features, the development of man-made constructions with the related businesses and activities.
Municipal and county municipal planning are closely linked to this idea of planning, although the financial parts of the planning at these levels are not coordinated with the state sectoral planning in terms of procedures and time, cf. Municipal masterplan, County master plan, Regional planning.
