Kommunal planering

Kommunal planering är en sammantagen bedömning där framtida behov och mål hos en kommun vägs mot dess resurser. Stommen i det kommunala planeringssystemet är den fysiska och ekonomiska planeringen. Den fysiska planeringen handlar om den framtida markanvändningen.
Enligt lag är viss planering obligatorisk, bland annat planering rörande barnomsorg, energiförsörjning och lokaltrafik. Under inledningen av 1990-talet har den kommunala planeringen kritiserats och ifrågasatts, inte minst har behovet av regional samordning stått i debattens fokus.

Local planning is a common assessment where the future needs and goals of a municipality are balanced against its resources. The frame of the local planning system is land use planning and financial planning. Land use planning deals with future use of land.
Laws state that certain kinds of planning are compulsory. These include planning concerning child care, energy supply and local traffic management. During the beginning of the 1990s local planning has been criticised and it has been questioned. Especially the need for regional coordination has been at the core of the debate.
