Kommunfullmäktige

I varje kommun finns en kommunfullmäktige. Kommunfullmäktige är kommunens högsta beslutande organ. Fullmäktige beslutar om ärenden som rör bland annat mål och riktlinjer för den kommunala verksamheten, budget, skatter och andra viktiga ekonomiska frågor. Fullmäktige skall också utse en kommunstyrelse och de nämnder som behövs för att fullgöra kommunens uppgifter. Mandatperioden är på fyra år och kommunfullmäktige kan inte upplösas. De sammanträden som hålls är offentliga.

Each local authority has a local council. The local council is the highest decision-making authority in the municipality. The council decides about matters such as the budget, taxes and other important financial issues. The council also appoints a local government board and the committees that are needed to undertake the tasks of the municipality. The term of office is four years and local councils cannot be dissolved. Its meetings are open to the public.
