Vite

national definition:

Ett vite är en i förväg fixerad penningsumma som enligt avtal, domstolsbeslut eller myndighets beslut ska erläggas av den som företar eller underlåter att företa viss åtgärd.
I byggsammanhang är den vanligaste formen av vite de som skall erläggas vid olika förseningar. Det kan även röra sig om vite som har med skadestånd, till exempel om befintlig vegetation skadas, eller med olika former av prestationer att göra.

A contingent fine is a sum of money, specified in advance in a contract, court judgement or decision by an authority, that has to be paid by a person who acts in a specified way or neglects to act in a specified way.
In the context of building, the most common form of contingent fine is one that is imposed in the case of delays of different kinds. Contingent fines can also be imposed in case of damage - for example, if existing vegetation is damaged - or relating to different kinds of achievements.
